Lamborghini has revealed its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of Urus super SUV as part of this year’s Beijing motor show.
The Lamborghini Urus SE follows the Revuelto supercar as the second PHEV for the Italian carmaker.
This electrified Urus variant is set to replace the existing petrol-only Urus S and Performante as the Italian carmaker moves further towards its electrification plans.
At this stage it’s unclear if or when the Urus SE will arrive in Australia. We’ve reached out to Lamborghini and will update this story once we hear back.
Powering the Urus SE is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine producing 456kW of power and 800Nm of torque.
This V8 engine is augmented with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission producing 141kW and 483Nm.
The electric motor is fed by a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack situated below the boot floor and above the electronically controlled rear differential.
Lamborghini claims the Urus SE has an electric range of more than 60km according to an undisclosed efficiency standard. It can travel on electric propulsion at speeds up to 130km/h.
All up the Urus SE has a total system output of 588kW of power and 950Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Urus variant ever.
It’s claimed to do the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds, and the 0-200km/h sprint in 11.2 seconds. Top speed is 312km/h.
The Urus SE debuts a new centrally located longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch, which is claimed to distribute torque variably and continuously between the front and rear axles.
The transfer case is claimed to work alongside the new electronic limited-slip rear differential, which can give the vehicle “on demand” oversteer.
On the outside the Urus SE receives subtle design tweaks including a new bonnet reminiscent of the Revuelto, revised bumpers and front grille, a new matrix LED headlight signature, as well as a new rear spoiler and diffuser.
A range of alloy wheels are offered ranging from 21- to 23-inches in diameter. A new 23-inch Galanthus rim design is paired with new Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Inside there’s a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system with updated graphics like the Revuelto sitting alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There are also new panel, seat and dashboard coverings.
Lamborghini claims there colour range has been expanded thanks to its Ad Personam customisation division, with more than 100 bodywork options and 47 interior colours now available.
