With the summer holidays rapidly approaching, many people will be considering a few days away at the seaside.

The UK is not short of beautiful beaches where people can spend an afternoon relaxing – but sometimes it can be difficult to find somewhere to get some much-valued peace and quiet.

On the hottest days, popular beaches frequently fill up fast and the crowds can be overwhelming for some.

However, one beach on the Isle of Wight promises crystal clear water – and fewer visitors than most.

Nestled on the southern tip of the island, Rocken End Beach receives far fewer tourists than other beaches on the island, which is popular with British families.

The beach is dog friendly and not far from Blackgang Chine, the UK’s oldest dedicated amusement park.

Part of the reason it attracts so few visitors may be its accessibility – those hoping to visit face a scramble down from the nearest car park on Old Blackgang Road.

This remoteness also means there are few facilities on the beach such as toilets, and this is something visitors should take into consideration.

While it doesn’t attract as many visitors as other beaches on the island, it is certainly popular with those who do venture out to it.

It is currently rated 4.8 out of five on Google reviews.

One reviewer said: “Perfect beach, accessibility is very difficult, wet and muddy.”

Another said: “Lovely beach, no sand, just small pebbles, a bit of a hike to get there, very steep hills and narrow pathways with almost sheer drops on one side.”
